You may recognize Rogers Beach from iconic photos of its white sand beaches bordered by erosion picket fences. Lashley Beach (Jetty 4)

What Lashley Beach lacks in amenities, it makes up for with its peaceful seclusion, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Known to attract surfers for its jetty and waves, Lashley Beach is best for leisurely strollers and a break from crowded beaches. Enjoy summer breezes while searching for treasures in the grassy dunes that line the picturesque beach. 

Long Island Aquarium

Explore the wonders of marine life at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead. With both indoor and outdoor exhibits, kids can spend the day interacting with majestic sea creatures and critters. The aquarium offers more than 100 educational exhibits, seasonal activities, and even live shows that include seals and penguins. While you’re there, don’t miss Ray Bay, Touch Tank, or the Bug Encounter—these interactive exhibits get you up close to the animal action. 

Fire Islands Lighthouse

A historical landmark in a breathtaking setting, the Fire Islands Lighthouse is Long Island’s tallest lighthouse and is worth the hour’s drive from Westhampton Beach. Kids can experience what it was like to work as a lighthouse keeper by climbing the 182 steps up to the tower. Visit the Maritime History Museum and tour the boathouse and adjoining lens building. The lighthouse is located on the Fire Island National Seashore, which adds to the adventure and offers ranger-led canoe tours or strolls through New York’s only federally designated wilderness area.
